Adults / elderly patients
Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the acute stage
It is recommended to take 20 mg orally once a day in the morning.
In case of peptic ulcer of the duodenum in the stage of exacerbation, the healing of the ulcer occurs within 4 weeks, but sometimes 4 more weeks of therapy may be required.
With gastric ulcer in the acute stage, healing occurs within 6 weeks, but sometimes another 6 weeks of treatment may be required.
Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
The recommended dose is 20 mg once a day. The duration of treatment is 4 to 8 weeks.
Long-term maintenance treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD maintenance therapy)
The recommended dose is 10 – 20 mg once a day, depending on the patient’s response to treatment.
Symptomatic treatment of moderate to severe gastroesophageal reflux disease
It is recommended to take 10 mg or 20 mg orally once a day in patients with GERD without esophagitis. If there is no response to treatment after 4 weeks of therapy, it is necessary to conduct an additional examination of the patient.
After relief of symptoms, to prevent their subsequent occurrence, the drug should be taken orally at a dose of 10 mg once a day on demand.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
The prescribed dose depends on the clinical picture. The recommended starting dose is 60 mg once a day, but it can be increased to 120 mg per day, depending on the need. It is possible to take a dosage of up to 100 mg once a day, and in the case of taking 120 mg, taking the tablets can be divided into two doses of 60 mg each. Therapy is carried out as long as there are appropriate clinical indications.
Helicobacter pylori eradication
For the eradication of H. pylori, it is recommended to take the drug orally at 20 mg 2 times a day in combination with antibiotics: clarithromycin 500 mg 2 times a day and amoxicillin 1 g 2 times a day. Duration of treatment: 7 days.
If eradication regimens require taking drugs once a day, Verabez must be taken in the morning, before breakfast, although neither time of day nor food affects the activity of rabeprazole sodium. This drug regimen promotes better adherence to treatment.
Patients with renal and hepatic impairment
No dose adjustment is required in patients with renal impairment.
Patients with moderate to mild hepatic impairment have higher levels of exposure to rabeprazole sodium when taken in a given dose, compared with healthy patients. Treatment of patients with severe hepatic impairment with Verabez 10 mg or 20 mg should be carried out with caution.
Elderly patients
Elderly patients do not need dose adjustment.
Pediatric patients
Verabez is not recommended for use in children due to the lack of experience in this age group.
